		<description>Bob,

I agree with most of your insight and comments. Here are some suggestions I have, below your predictions.

Your list (for 2010) was:

■Convergence and trends towards unified communications and user empowerment

■The continued dominance of American IT

   - I think 2011 and 2012 will mark the rise of Chinese IT. This will happen for several reasons, not least of which are increasing employment costs in India and the ability of the Chinese to learn, including through expats, the method and systems of innovations of American IT.

■Increasing open development of software and hardware

  - Paint me a contrarian. I think 2011 will be the begining of slowdown in Open software adoption. One of the reasons is the onerous (to enterprise) &#039;costs&#039; of IP sharing and innovation disclosure. These pair of symptoms could be obviated by new license frameworks. But... currently, the mere use of Open development enviornments is hazardous to IP rights.

■Cloud Computing and massive ingest/parsing of data

  - Yep, and in 2011 - the massive efforts to clean up data (crowdsourcing as well as algorithmic) will continue to increase.

■Green IT and support to total mission effectiveness

■Increasing pace of technology improvement/development

* One new trend I predict for 2011 is an increased focus on Privacy (US) and Security (ROW) to include more severe legal requirments and thus focus and spending.

Thank you,
