The Federal Technology Events Calendar

fedtecheventsIf your focus is on Federal IT you have no doubt long realized there are an incredible number of conferences and events in this domain. In August 2009 we established the Federal Technology Events Calendar, and we are still maintaining that as a reference and an aid to long range planning.

Since then we have found another great reference site to government events, called GovEvents.com . We strongly recommend anyone building a schedule of future events or anyone holding events use the GovEvents.com site to help deconflict and optimize your schedule.

We still maintain our reference calendar and plan on keeping it open. But its point and purpose is much simpler. This calendar shows events we are personally involved with. These are events we are helping to plan, speaking at, attending, or interested in for other reasons.

Please take a moment to review the calendar and let us know what you think. We would especially appreciate knowing if you think there are other events we should be tracking.

This calendar uses Google Calendar technologies so it is fast and easy to maintain, which means it should be easy to keep it up to date.

You can see the calendar at our company site at http://crucialpointllc.com Which leads to a couple related points: It is easy to put this data on multiple sites, and, if you like this data you can have it.

You can add the events in this calendar to your own calendar or embed the calendar into your website with a few clicks of a button. Here are a few tips that show how:

First visit the site at: http://crucialpointllc.com/services/federal-services/federal-technology-events-calendar/ then scroll down.

You will see buttons labeled XML, ICAL and HTML.

To embed the calendar’s data on your iGoogle page or use it in other XML or RSS readers, click on the XML button.

To use the calendar’s data in your Apple iCal application, click on the ICAL button and open the resulting file.

To view a larger version of the calendar in a website click on the HTML button.

You can also tailor the calendar to fit on your website by clicking on the link: http://bit.ly/KlawY You will need to be logged into your Google Calendar to use this last tool.

I hope this calendar is a useful feature for you. If you know of major IT events in the federal domain please let me know.

    Bob-

Thanks for sharing this great resource. Can't tell you the number of times I've had to do 'sneaker internet' by visiting the multiple event web sites to figure out what was coming up.
