Bryson Bort’s presentation at Defcon 2018 is now available and is presented below:
Bryson has a unique set of skills. He has the technical background to dive deep into any Internet enabled technology and really understand how it works, but also possesses an ability to communicate clearly in a way that is easy to understand.
In this talk he walks us through IoT attacks, from the attacker perspective. It was amazing how fast he got into IoT devices (like webcams), including those that had changed passwords!
Talks like this are great for awareness, but Bryson also leads us to a clear call to action. He builds a clear case that broad action along many fronts is required, especially action on the part of manufactures. But we users have action too. Not only do we have to change passwords and keep things up to date, but we have to shop smartly.
