One of the methods we use to spot data analytics companies worth tracking is watching who sponsors Hadoop World. We just reviewed all the current sponsors and were surprised to find that almost all of them are already known to us. That may change as the event gets near, but for now what we see is more evolution of existing capabilities vice new capabilities. That said, there are some companies we have not been reporting on at CTOvision. One we are initiating coverage on is Rapidminer. We will be tracking them in our Big Data Companies category
Rapidminer has been around for several years, but their capabilities, usecases and even interface are continuing to improve. Seems like their customer base is growing too.
What interested us was how they describe themselves: “We empower organizations to easily prep data, create models and operationalize predictive analytics within any business process.” Digging deeper into their website we see a capability that could potentially open up more powerful analytics to a wider range of firms than currently can leverage these functions.
We will be at Hadoop World again this year and will provide an update after a more in depth demo.
