Editor’s note: As an advisor to WayIn I wanted to bring your attention to this press release. It notes the transition of my friend Tom Jessiman and the appointment of a new CEO, Elaine Feeney Wood. It also provides an update on new WayIn business. They keep moving out! – bg
On the heels of new customer wins including the San Jose Sharks and Turtle Wax, Wayin appoints Elaine Feeney Wood as President and Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Wood succeeds former CEO, Tom Jessiman.
Wayin, the start-up that brought brands a way to visualize social engagement via their innovative Wayin Hub dashboard, is transforming the way companies engage with their fans and followers. Wayin Hub is the Twitter microsite assembly platform used by companies to visualize Twitter media and maximize social interaction for their brands and events. As the social engagement industry heats up, Wayin is at the forefront with Hub, a dynamic platform with a flexible administrative dashboard that allows companies to best leverage social media channels and content.
“In the last two years, Wayin has grown leaps and bounds into a company that is shifting the engagement status quo,” said Wayin Co-Founder and Board Chairman, Scott McNealy. “We’re looking forward to the next evolution of Wayin with Elaine at the helm, and look forward to seeing the new, exciting things TJ will do next.”
Wayin has established itself as a leader in the emerging social media engagement market, working with brands like Chevrolet for their SXSW social media engagement, building a social platform around Turtle Wax’s “Wax on, Shirt Off” campaign and supporting the National Hockey League San Jose Sharks’ social media following in their quest for the Stanley Cup.
Over the last two years, the talented team Jessiman hired has positioned the company for the next stage of growth. In his transition from CEO, he worked closely with the Wayin Board to select and recruit Wood as his successor. He will now serve as an Advisor to Wood and the Board for the next six months to ensure a successful transition.
Since joining the company earlier this year, Wood has served as Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Wayin. Her proven leadership skills will assist in refining Wayin’s growth strategy and will help to continue to build the company. “I look forward to leading Wayin as it reminds me a lot of the innovative environment and world-class talent that I enjoyed at Sun Microsystems,” said Wood. “Working for Scott McNealy again is refreshing, challenging and extremely exciting.”
Wood brings more than 20 years of diverse entrepreneurial experience and key leadership roles at Fortune 100 companies including Sun Microsystems, Citibank and MCI. In addition to her role as President and CEO, Wood will join the Board of Directors.
Wayin is a leading mobile and web engagement start-up based in Denver, founded by Silicon Valley’s Scott McNealy and a team of industry veterans. Their successful platform, Wayin Hub, connects brands with their fans and followers, helping them to better leverage their social media presence. Wayin Hub aggregates and visualizes social content to give companies the ability to manage and customize public-facing social dashboards on a property that they own and control. Recognized this year by Gartner as a “Cool Vendor in Data Driving Marketing,” Wayin Hub clients include the nation’s largest corporations, sports and entertainment enterprises and agencies.
