People-Centered Internet works to ensure that the Internet delivers economic, social and political empowerment for all. PCI is an international coalition of positive change agents created to ensure that the Internet continues to improve people’s lives and livelihoods and that the Internet is a positive force for good with helping people achieve their goals and aspirations.
The PCI coalition embodies the belief that the Internet can bring different groups of people together to form living learning communities focused on education, economic opportunity, and growth of communities through communication.
There are many ways to engage with the PCI and we encourage all to visit their website and find the right way to help ensure the Internet is a positive force for good. One way to engage is the 10 Dec 2018 PCI Digital Future Event in San Jose California. This charity event is an opportunity to help inject thoughts into the dialog for how to make the Internet a better place for all, and is also a great place to learn from others, including current and likely future thought leaders and creators who are helping humanity build our future.
From the event announcement:
The focus will be on Our People-Centered Digital Future, specifically recognizing that by December 10th, 2018, more than 50% of the world will have access to the Internet just as the world also celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations.
A historic cast of Internet pioneers will assemble to share the lessons of how we got here, and more importantly engage the next generation of innovators and leaders on where we need to go to ensure the future Internet is more community- and people-centered for us all. The event will focus on the digital future ahead, using 10 December 2018 as a historic opportunity to discuss what needs to be done to complete the unfinished aspirations of the Internet.
This special charity “tech for good” event, organized by Constellation Research, seeks to raise $50M to fund PCI challenge awards in 2020 that ensure that the Internet remains a force for good. The awards will be administered by the People-Centered Internet coalition and address society, education, environment, technology, and the future of human rights. We must provide access to every human to the Internet and we must also maintain our human rights in this digital era.
Event speakers include Vint Cerf, Tim Berners-Lee, R “Ray” Wang, Mei Lin Fung, David Bray, Marc Andreessen, Radia Perlman, Deepa Prahalad, Steve Case, JJ Snow, Steve Wozniak and CTOvision publisher Bob Gourley.
